According to Daniel Baron, Founder & CEO of SmartTab, deciding to acquire Pioneer's hardware was a significant one for him as he was a self-funded proprietor in the point-of-sale space at the time. "Pioneer has also done a great job of giving us ownership over the equipment by allowing us to white label the products. Since our name is on it, we want it to be great, and I can say for certain that these products are tanks."

When I was only ordering four stations, I was just as important to them as I am today, ordering over 100. You don't get that everywhere," Daniel said. "I really respect them. At Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., linens and supplies are now being delivered in an unconventional way.

On an underground delivery network, 20+ Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) from JBT’s Automated Systems Division deliver supplies to supply technicians between hospital facilities.

One of the key components that make the AGVs so successful is Pioneer's touchscreens.

Pioneer touchscreens were implemented to help JBT’s end user to more easily manage automated material movements in a hospital environment,” JBT Automated Systems Marketing Specialist Laura McConney explained.

Pioneer’s hardware solutions let individuals choose where to send carts full of linens and other supplies, saving hospital employees time and streamlining the supply delivery process.

“By implementing simple icons on the screens, workers in the hospital can quickly and easily make decisions about the next step in the material transport process,” McConney stated.

The Progreso-Nuevo Progreso International Bridge is one of only three remaining individually-owned and operated border crossing bridges in the U.S. Since it first opened in 1952, the bridge has grown into a hub for commerce and culture.

Pedestrian, commercial, and vehicle traffic use this bridge every day to cross between the cities of Progreso, Texas, and Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

With five automobile lanes and hundreds of people and vehicles passing through per day, the Progreso-Nuevo Progreso International Bridge needed hardware that would align with its 24/7, fast-paced operations.

The Installation

Located in the village of Goshen, N.Y., the Orange Inn has been around since the 1700s and boasted guests as famous as George Washington and James Cagney throughout its hundreds of years of history.

Rico’s Pizzeria & Pasta House, a popular Florida restaurant chain, thought they’d seen everything that Pioneer had to offer, but their newest installation of the StealthTouch II really blew them away.

For the past 10 years, Rico’s has been using Pioneer hardware in all four of their restaurant locations.  When they needed new hardware for their Lakewood Ranch location, they turned to their long-time IT solutions partner, Navisiontech, Inc., for the best solution in the market.

The solution, of course, was our 15-inch StealthTouch II.

Navisiontech Inc. installed these state-of-the-art touch computers with Aldelo software as well as receipt printers.  Rico’s chose to use the StealthTouch II not only because of its sleek and modern look, but also because of its hot-swappable battery operation, which makes them truly mobile when needed.

However, the most important reason they used this all-in-one was because of its operating systems.

Navisiontech CEO, Greg Volkov, explained that without the hardware upgrade, this Rico’s location wouldn’t have been able to accept or process credit card payments.  This is because their previous hardware solution was still using the Windows XP operating system.

When asked about that issue, Volkov stated, “Credit card companies no longer support Windows XP, and without the upgrade in hardware, Rico’s would have had to go back 20 years and not accept credit cards—or have to accept them through non-connected manual machines.” He added, “I would say that they potentially would have lost customers if they hadn’t switched to a new hardware solution.”

Because the StealthTouch II is compatible with five different operating systems (Windows 7, POS 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Linux) that credit card companies support, this Rico’s location can continue to accept and process credit card payments without missing a beat.

Volkov reported how pleased the Rico’s staff were with the StealthTouch II.

Thai Restaurant Gets a Sleek, Cost-Effective Solution with Help from SW Merchant Services Group & Pioneer

Let’s be honest: Thai food is absolutely delicious.  From spring rolls to tom yum soup to pad Thai, is it any wonder that Thai restaurants are so popular in the U.S.?

Sunland, Calif.-based Rice Avenue Thai Cuisine Inc. is a bit unique in that it not only serves Thai staples, but distinct food from the four major culinary regions of Thailand.  So, when they were looking for a new POS system, they were seeking one that was as unique as their offerings and would complement their operations.

“They wanted a sleek POS system that was also affordable,” said Valerie Ha from SW Merchant Services Group, a local credit card processing company.  “They also wanted a system to keep track of their sales.  It was more efficient than handwritten orders.”

Why Pioneer's S-Line II was the Perfect Solution for a Fro-Yo Store Opening

In the competitive world of frozen yogurt, Southern California’s locally owned and operated, non-franchised The Yogurt Shoppe stands out from the crowd.  The main draw here is not just their frozen yogurt (which is delicious!), but their atmosphere: they aim to create, engage with, and build communities all the while providing “the perfect yogurt experience.”

When they opened their second location in Brentwood, Calif., The Yogurt Shoppe owners turned to SunrisePOS, a local full-service integrator which offers full implementations of systems and software, to outfit their new location with hardware and software.

The challenge was that they wanted to have a lot of open counterspace, but frozen yogurt shops generally require more peripherals due to the nature of their business.

SunrisePOS Founder and Director of Sales Bryan Harrington also knew that they couldn’t just install one POS system – they needed two to accommodate the anticipated high amount of traffic.

(And it was definitely expected to be high; the Yogurt Shoppe has an extensive social media presence, and one of its business partners is Hollywood actress Marcia Gay Harden!)

Their original Pacific Palisades location, for instance, was extremely popular and crowded.  “It’s one of the most high-volume frozen yogurt restaurants I’ve ever seen,” Harrington explained.

SunrisePOS chose to install two of Pioneer's 15-inch S-Line II all-in-ones with integrated EPSON printers.  The compact design of the S-Line was the perfect space-saving solution the frozen yogurt shoppe needed.  “The units were placed side by side, and the counter still looked very clean and organized,” Harrington said.

Completing the installation were two M-S Cash Drawer cash drawers mounted underneath the counter, two Avery Berkel scales, Verifone payment terminals with EMV and contactless payment capabilities, Aldelo POS software, and Vantiv in-store payment processing.

The total installation took about 6-8 hours – right before the Brentwood location’s opening day.  Everything ran perfectly and smoothly for their grand opening, which proved to be a “huge” event.

“Hundreds of people came,” Harrington said.  “There were lines out the door from open to close!”

The new S-Line II models not only exceeded expectations with their faster processor and better specs, but were a far more efficient POS solution for their day-to-day operations.

In fact, the owners were so impressed by the combined hardware and software that they asked Harrington to redo their technology at their Pacific Palisades location.
